ENTRY CRITERIA
Applicants must have an enquiring mind and be interested in people and the world in which we live. They must be respectful of individuality and diversity and be able to show themselves as far as possible free from any form of prejudice. Applicants should be comfortable with people on a one-to-one basis and non-confrontational in their behaviour.
Given the nature of the teaching at the BSH, with its emphasis on continuous assessment and the reflective practitioner, the interview is designed primarily to filter out those obviously unsuitable.
There is no fixed age limit for entry and we have many mature students. Below is an example of the age, sex and occupation of some of our current students.
Mrs C, 51, Artist
The other criterion we apply when considering how suitable an applicant is for the course, is the degree of support they would require if they were a student of the BSH and whether we could match this requirement.
The best homoeopaths are those who find it easy to relate to a wide variety of patients and who are themselves easy to be with. Personal skills are almost as important in homoeopathy as the ability to understand the therapy and so if you match the personal criteria you should be able to learn the academic principles on which homoeopaths work.
‘You rightly emphasise the partnership that must take place between students and teaching staff and to this end you emphasise the responsibility that students take for their own learning’. SOCIETY OF HOMEOPATHS RECOGNITION REVIEW 2007 |
