RESOURCES

LIBRARY

The school operates a library for students which is run by a graduate of the BSH. Students may borrow any book or books from the extensive stock and may hold that book for study as long as they need it or until another student requests it. New library books are purchased every year. There is a £10 charge for joining the scheme to cover the cost of any books that might be damaged or lost. If no books are damaged or lost this £10 will be refunded when the student graduates.

REMEDIES

The School operates a subsidised scheme for the purchase of homoeopathic remedies. The scheme is run by a BSH graduate and enables students to purchase an extensive range of remedies at a significant discount.

PROVINGS

The British School of Homoeopathy Proving Programme Since 2002 the College has committed to undertaking regular provings. (The testing of a substance potentially of use as a medicine). These are organised and run by Lisa Mansell and Debbie Schofield.

2002 Tela Aranearum (Cobweb)
2003 Proteus Bacillus (bowel nosode)
2004 Botulinum
2005 Saccharomyces Cerevisiae (bakers yeast)

Students are encouraged to participate in the various roles of the Provings while they are at College. It has been shown to be very valuble for students to be part of the process of testing a substance and seeing how the symptoms are experienced and then integrated into the Homoeopathic Materia Medica. It enables them to see the Principles of Homoeopathy in action which facilitates their understanding of the subject.

When they reach the third and fourth year the Proving allows them to experience case taking and supervision in a well supported forum, as they move towards graduation.

In addition to the benefits experienced by the students participating, the Proving Programme generates important information for the wider homoeopathic community and is a way to contribute to the vital research and development of homoeopathy.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Social contact between students and with staff is desirable but difficult on a part time course. School supported events are:
- Monthly meeting between staff and students at a local hostelry close to the University

- Campus Christmas party organised by student entertainment committee or college led Christmas meal

- End of year picnic.

PROFESSIONAL SOCIETIES

The professional homoeopathy course that we run is fully recognised by the Society of Homeopaths, the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths and the Homeopathic Medical Association. The Director of Studies can put you in contact with any of these bodies. We recommend that students become members of a professional body as early as possible to familiarise themselves with the profession as a whole before they enter it. Students will need to be an insured member of one or other of these professional bodies before they will be allowed to enter supervision.

LOCATION

We rent modern, pleasant, well equipped classrooms at the campus in Newton-St-Loe, Bath – this is a beautiful location to study, with lots of greenery and potential for gentle, reviving walks in stunning scenery.  There is ample, safe, free parking and good road/rail/air links.
